To Be Like Water, 2025Aluminum
Water, which continuously changes shape, adapts to its surroundings, and simultaneously reshapes them through erosion and sedimentation, becomes a symbol of ongoing friction with rigid binary structures.
Through the fluidity of water, the work reflects the continual reshaping, movement, construction, and disintegration of multiple identities. Just as water shapes landscapes, identities are shaped through the questioning of norms, experiences, and relationships. The work examines how water, as nature’s glitch, can reveal the shortcomings of existing systems that seek to restrict freedom of movement across norms, identities, and bodies.
In the context of glitch feminism, it becomes a metaphor for subversion, resistance, and challenging traditional norms and societal expectations. Water emerges as a fundamental force of existence, enabling mutual watery care and solidarity. The work poses a question: how can we create a space that is free, fluid, and resilient like water itself?
